Juniors Rohn Pierce and Connor Panas have been voted as Capital One Academic All-Americans by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Panas (3.80 GPA in physical education/health education) was voted to the Second Team while Pierce (3.51 GPA in management) was voted to the Third Team, giving the Canisius baseball program six Academic All-Americans during the past five seasons.

The 2014 MAAC Player of the Year and unanimous selection to the All-MAAC First Team, Panas posted a .362 batting average and led the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with six home runs and 51 RBI. The Etobicoke, Ontario native also had a .574 slugging percentage and 16 stolen bases in 53 games. A two-time MAAC Player of the Week, Panas also earned Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week honors on May 5, after going 8-for-11 with three home runs and 11 RBI in a sweep at Quinnipiac.

A unanimous selection as the 2014 MAAC Pitcher of the Year and to the All-MAAC First Team, Pierce posted an 11-3 record with a 2.18 earned run average in 111.2 innings and 15 starts. The Lockport, N.Y. native is one of five pitchers in the country with an ERA under 2.50, 110 innings pitched and 11 victories. A two-time MAAC Pitcher of the Week, Pierce earned Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week honors on Feb. 17, after throwing seven shutout innings in a 3-0 win over No. 5 NC State and Carlos Rodon.

Canisius was one of four teams, along with Florida State, Liberty and Southeast Missouri, to have two student-athletes named Capital One Academic All-Americans.

Drew Pettit was a two-time First-Team Academic All-American selection in 2012 and 2011 while Sean Jamieson earned Second-Team honors in 2011 and Ian Choy earned First-Team honors in 2010.
