Halfdanardottir Signs NLI With Women’s Basketball

Canisius women’s basketball coach Terry Zeh has announced that Margret Halfdanardottir (Hafnarfjordur, Iceland) has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Golden Griffins for the 2014-15 season.

Halfdanardottir is the fourth player to sign an NLI for next season, joining Sarah Cooley (Lexington, Ky.), Abby Schwenk (New Holland, Ohio) and Saliah Serrette (Natick, Mass.).

“We are excited to have Margret join our program,” Zeh said. “Margaret’s skillset allows her to play multiple positions for us. She’s a very good passer and can play off the ball and score as well.

“Margret comes from a basketball family and is always working on her game.”

Halfdanardottir becomes the second European player on the roster, joining Tamara Miskovic as Halfdanardottir has played with the club team Haukar in Iceland. The 5-foot-9 guard averaged 11.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists last season when earning team MVP honors. Haukar won the Icelandic Cup championship in 2014 and 2010 while Halfdanardottir was named the best young player in the Icelandair League in 2011-12.
