Junior Connor Panas has been named a Third-Team All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association. Panas and junior Rohn Pierce were voted to the ABCA Northeast All-Region First Team while senior Jimmy Luppens and sophomore Anthony Massicci were voted to the ABCA Northeast All-Region Second Team.
Panas earns All-American status for the second time as the Toronto, Ontario native was placed on the Louisville Slugger All-America Second Team. The 2014 MAAC Player of the Year also earned ECAC Division I First-Team All-Star and Capital One Academic Second-Team All-American accolades.
A unanimous selection to the All-MAAC First Team, Panas posted a .362 batting average and led the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with six home runs and 51 RBI. Panas also had a .574 slugging percentage and 16 stolen bases in 53 games. A two-time MAAC Player of the Week, Panas also earned Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week honors on May 5, after going 8-for-11 with three home runs and 11 RBI in a sweep at Quinnipiac.
Pierce, a 19th-round draft pick of the Seattle Mariners in the Major League Baseball Draft and unanimous selection as the 2014 MAAC Pitcher of the Year and to the All-MAAC First Team, Pierce posted an 11-3 record with a 2.18 earned run average in 111.2 innings and 15 starts. The Lockport, N.Y. native is one of five pitchers in the country with an ERA under 2.50, 110 innings pitched and 11 victories. A two-time MAAC Pitcher of the Week, Pierce earned Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week honors on Feb. 17, after throwing seven shutout innings in a 3-0 win over No. 5 NC State and Carlos Rodon.
Luppens, who earned Second-Team All-Region honors in 2013, posted a .363 batting average in 55 games during his senior season and had 15 doubles to go along with 42 RBI. The Wading River, N.Y. native recorded a program-record 25 HBP and posted a .490 on-base percentage to rank in the top 15 nationally in the category.
