The Golden Griffins women’s lacrosse team has been recognized by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association for the team’s 2014 academic success.

The IWLCA has recognized 84 schools as earning IWLCA Division I Academic Honor Squads Honors for the 2014 season. Every school with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher earned Academic Squad honors. Canisius’ 2014 team GPA was 3.12.

The Griffs also received individual honors, as four players were named to the 2014 IWLCA Division I Academic Honor Roll. The IWLCA honored 233 student-athletes from 79 different institutions.  All student-athletes were nominated by their schools and have achieved at least junior status academically and had a cumulative academic GPA or 3.50 or greater.

Senior Stephanie Schmalz (Political Science) and juniors Meghan Cuddy (Psychology), Casey Depauw (Biology) and Natalie Wagaman (Biology) were all honored by the IWLCA for their success in the classroom.

The four-time defending MAAC Champions, Canisius finished the 2014 campaign with a 12-7 record, falling in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to Penn.
