Former Canisius College baseball player Sean Jamieson was recently selected as a starter for the Western Division in the 2012 Midwest League All-Star Game. A shortstop for the Burlington Bees, the Class-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics, Jamieson will start in the game to be held on June 19, at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark - the home of the Kane County Cougars.

Jamieson was selected in the 17th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft by the Athletics - the highest selection of a Canisius College baseball player since the 1994 season. The Simcoe, Ontario native is hitting .248 in 58 games this season, while ranking 14th in the Midwest league with a .376 on-base percentage and ninth with 17 stolen bases.

Jamieson earned First-Team All-MAAC honors in both of his seasons at Canisius. As a senior, he collected a number of awards, including being named a Capital One Academic All-American, a ECAC Division I All-Star and the co-MAAC Player of the Year. Jamieson became the first student-athlete in school history to receive the MAAC Male Student-Athlete of the Year award and also was named one of 10 semifinalists for the Brooks Wallace Award, given to the top shortstop in the country.

Jamieson was also named a Mid-Season All-Star in the New York-Penn League during the 2011 season while playing for the Vermont Lake Monsters.
