1948 Football Team- The 1948 Football team went 7-2-1, ending their season in the Great Lakes Bowl, the program's only bowl appearance losing to John Carroll by one point, 14-13 at Cleveland's Municipal Stadium. The squad, played in the first college football game from Western New York to be broadcasted on television, defeating St. Francis (Pa.) 61-0. The team outscored opponents 242-109, with the defense posting three shutouts, and holding opposing teams to seven or fewer points six times. One of these occasions came in a 14-6 defeat over St. Bonaventure at War Memorial Stadium in front of 32, 541 fans, which kept the Bonnies from a bowl appearance of their own.
