Junior Jesse Kelso was selected as the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Monday. Kelso wins the award for the first time in his career.

Kelso hit .462 (6-for-13) in four starts last week, scoring eight runs, recording three extra base hits and drawing five walks to post a .769 slugging percentage and .611 on-base percentage. The 5-foot-10 outfielder also stole three bases and drove in three runs in the series win at Longwood. Kelso scored multiple runs in three of the four games and had two multi-hit games.

Kelso ranks second in the MAAC in batting average (.426), first in runs scored (19), first in hits (20), second in RBI (12), third in slugging percentage (.617) and third in on-base percentage (.509).

Kelso is the third Golden Griffin to win a weekly award from the MAAC this season. Junior Garrett Cortright was named the MAAC Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 18, and freshman Brett Siddall was named the MAAC Rookie of the Week on March 4.

Canisius, standing at 10-5 and winners in six of its last seven games, returns to the field for a four-game series at Ohio University this weekend. First pitch for Friday's game is set for 4 p.m. in Athens, Ohio.
