Women's Soccer Prepares to Host Rider

The Canisius College women’s soccer team will host Rider on Wednesday at 4 p.m. The Griffs come into the contest looking for their first conference win having dropped their MAAC opener at Iona on Saturday.

Home is Where the Defense Shines

• Canisius is averaging 1.15 goals per game through its five home games this season.
• Through 10 games, the Griffs goals against average is 1.58 lower at home than on the road.
• Senior goalkeeper Megan Tock boasts a .864 save percentage at the Demske Sports Complex this season. She’s started all-five home contests, recording 38 saves in them.

A More Balanced Offense
• Through 10 games, five different Griffs have at least 10 shots.

• It’s the earliest Canisius has had five players with 10 or more shots since 2009.
• Canisius didn’t reach that number since the 16th game last season.

Scouting the Broncs
• Rider comes into the contest with a 4-3-0, and 1-0-0 in the MAAC.

• The Broncs are led offensively by Jennifer Meier, who has four goals and two assists on the year.
• The Broncs have split time with Vanessa Perdomo and Bethany-May Howard in net, with each playing a half in all seven contests. Perdomo has earned three of the four wins and has posted a 0.86 goals against average and recorded 22 saves. Howard’s goals against average sits at 1.71.

• The Griffs hold an 8-8-1 record against the Broncs all-time.

• Rider took the last meeting by a score of 3-0 on Oct. 19, 2012.
• Under head coach Jim Wendling the Griffs are 4-2-0 against the Broncs.
