Sagar Leads Golf Team with Career-Low 70

Canisius College sophomore Hunter Sagar fired a career-low 70 and the Golden Griffins posted a team score of 296 to sit in fourth place after round one of the second annual Binghamton Fall Invitational at The Link at Hiawatha Landing in Apalachin, N.Y. Sagar's two-under score of 70 was one of 13 under-par scores for the day, and he enters tomorrow's final round tied for fifth in the field.

Sophomore Andrew Romano shot a 74, which ties him for 20th while freshman teammate Cory Cullen posted a 76, which ties him for 33rd. Cullen is joined in 33rd place in the field with teammate Brendan Polsin, who also fired a 76 on Sunday.

Laval University from Quebec leads the team competition after the Rouge-et-Or shot a team score of 276, which is 12-under par for the squad. Laval's Ujo Coussaud shot a six-under par 66 to take the lead after the first 18 holes. Four of Laval's five players in the field rank among the top-eight after the first round. Fairleigh Dickinson (280), Binghamton (283), Canisius (296) and Rider (297) round out the top-five teams through 18 holes.

The second and final round of the Binghamton Fall Invitational is set to tee off at 8:30 a.m., Monday morning.
