Tickets for the college basketball doubleheader at First Niagara Center Dec. 11 are now on sale now through Canisius’ ticket office, the First Niagara Center Box Office and Tickets.com. Canisius will be the road team against cross-town rival Buffalo in the downtown arena, with tipoff set for 8 p.m. The first game of the night will feature Niagara playing host to Davidson. That game will start at 6 p.m.

Tickets cost $20 or $30 for floor seats. One ticket gains admission to both games. Fans wishing to sit in the Canisius section are encouraged to purchase tickets for the doubleheader by calling the Canisius ticket office at (716) 888-2885. Tickets can also be purchased through the First Niagara Center Box Office by calling 1-888-223-6000 or online at tickets.com. There is also a group ticket sales price, where a group of 15 or more can purchase tickets for $15 apiece. To learn more about group ticket packages, fans are encouraged to call 1-888-GOSABRES.

“It has long been our desire to bring basketball back to the First Niagara Center and this year’s doubleheader shows that the local schools are serious about showcasing our teams in one of the area’s top sporting venues,” Canisius Director of Athletics Bill Maher said. “There is a lot of excitement for the 2013-14 college basketball season here in Western New York, culminating with the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Second and Third Rounds in March. The doubleheader event in December is part of this excitement.”

The Dec. 11 contest will mark the 46th time the Golden Griffins and the Bulls have met on the hardwood, with Canisius leading the all-time series 30-15. Last season, the Griffs defeated Buffalo in the Koessler Athletic Center by a score of 71-64, Canisius’ second win over its cross-town rival in the last nine meetings, dating back to the 2004-05 campaign.

The Griffs have played 43 regular-season and MAAC Tournament games in First Niagara Center, where the Blue and Gold holds a 26-17 all-time record. This year’s date with Buffalo in the arena will mark the first time Canisius has been the road team in a regular season game in the facility, and it will serve as the second time Canisius and Buffalo have played in First Niagara Center. The previous meeting was Dec. 12, 1998, when the Griffs scored a 66-56 victory over the Bulls. The Griffs’ last played a game downtown in the 2009-10 season, where the team lost to MAAC rival Fairfield by the score of 58-52.

The Canisius Office of Alumni Engagment will be hosting a pregame reception at the Pearl Street Grill and Brewery, located at 76 Pearl Street in Buffalo prior to the Griffs' game against Buffalo. The event will start at 6 p.m., and costs $20. The event will include a buffet, soft drinks and a cash bar. Fans attending the alumni event will still need to purchase game tickets through the Canisius ticket office. For more information on the alunmi pregame party, click this link.
