Griffs to Play Georgia State and Metro State

The Canisius College men’s basketball team continues play in the 29th annual NIT Season Tip-Off Tournament next week with a pair of games against Georgia State and Metro State. The Griffs play Georgia State on Monday, Nov. 25 and Metro State on Tuesday, Nov. 26. Both games are scheduled for a 5 p.m. tipoff and will be played in Elon, N.C.

Georgia State in its first year in the Sun Belt and is 2-2 during the 2013-14 campaign. The Panthers split a pair of games in the NIT Season Tip-Off this week, defeating McNeese State on Monday before falling to Alabama on Tuesday. The Griffs and Panthers are set to meet for the first time.

Metro State, based in Denver, Colo., is the nation’s top-ranked team in Division II. The Roadrunners, who are 2-0 in DII play this season, split a pair of games in the NIT Season Tip Off this past week in Arizona. Metro State fell to Rhode Island by three points on Monday before defeating Fairleigh Dickinson on Tuesday.

Canisius has split four games to open the 2013-14 season, including a 1-1 mark in the NIT Season Tip-Off Tournament. After losing to host Rutgers on Monday, the Blue and Gold rallied for an 86-85 win against Elon on Tuesday thanks to a buzzer-beating 3-pointer by Billy Baron.
