The Canisius College men's basketball team will play host to Rider Friday night in the Golden Griffins' first home game of the 2014 calendar year. • Canisius returns home for the first time in the 2014 calendar year tonight when the Golden Griffins play host to Rider in the Koessler Athletic Center.
• The Griffs are coming off a 65-62 loss at Marist on Monday night. That loss ended Canisius’ three-game winning streak to start MAAC play, the program’s best start to a conference season since 1994-95.
• The Griffs come into tonight’s game with an 9-6 overall record and a 3-1 mark in MAAC play. The Blue and Gold is 4-0 at home this season, and the team starts its first MAAC weekend of 2014 with a 16-4 record in its last 20 home contests.

• After scoring an average of 83.7 points per game from Dec. 16-29, the Griffs come into tonight’s game averaging 64.5 points per outing in their last two contests.
• Canisius senior Billy Baron scored a game-high 27 points in the team’s loss at Marist on Monday. He’s scored 20-plus points in 10 games this season after posting 20 or more points a total of 10 times in 34 games a season ago.
• Canisius senior Jordan Heath matched his season-high with four blocks in the loss at Marist. He starts tonight’s game with 84 career blocked shots, which ranks 10th in school history.
• Freshman Zach Lewis had nine points off the bench in the team’s loss Monday night. Since returning from a leg injury Dec. 6, Lewis is averaging 8.6 points per game for Canisius.

• Rider travels to Western New York with a 7-6 overall record and a 3-1 mark in MAAC play. The Broncs saw their two-game winning streak come to an end Jan. 5, with a road loss to Siena.
• Senior Anthony Myles is one of four Rider players averaging double-figures in the scoring column. Myles is scoring a team-high 18.3 points per game, which ranks fifth in the MAAC.
• Junior Daniel Stewart is good for 15 points and 6.5 rebounds per game for the Broncs. The former MAAC Rookie of the Year ranks 12th in scoring average and 10th in rebounds per game in the conference.
• As a team, Rider ranks third in the MAAC and 64th in the nation in scoring average at 78.2 points per game. The Broncs shooting 42.2 percent from 3-point range this year, which ranks eighth nationally.
• Defensively, Rider is allowing 79.7 points per game, which ranks ninth in the conference and 325th in the country (out of 345 teams).

• This will be the 39th all-time meeting between these two schools, with Rider holding a 30-8 lead in the series.
• Rider is 4-1 in the last five games between these two schools and the Broncs hold an 11-5 lead in the series in games played in Buffalo.
• Last season, Rider defeated Canisius 65-61 in the Koessler Athletic Center on the final day of the regular season. Rider is one of four teams (along with Fairfield, Niagara and Evansville) to beat the Griffs at home in the last two years.
