Last weekend featured only one game and it was against our greatest rivals - the Niagara Purple Eagles. Unfortunately we came out with a loss in a game that was very close from start to finish. The final score was 2-1 and we had several chances that could have tied or even won the game for us. It is most definitely a disappointing result but with another conference opponent heading to town this weekend, we must use this loss as motivation for the upcoming two games.

AIC is not an opponent we can afford to take lightly as conference points are extremely important and it will take strong efforts in both contests to get the job done. With no home wins so far this year, this also adds to the importance to attain two victories this weekend. We have had great fan support and it is time for us to thank them with our first home win.

Practices have been intense and challenging so far this week and everyone seems to be playing with a little more of an edge as we know it is time to get going with a few conference wins this weekend. I have no doubt in my mind that our team will be mentally and physically prepared for this weekend and we will be able to add a few top the win column.

This week features a big holiday in the States which is Thanksgiving. This is a holiday that our hockey team celebrates on two separate occasions as our team includes a significant number of Canadians so we also get together for a dinner on that day in October.

This Thanksgiving, we are changing the venue as we will be heading to the Sullivan residence for dinner. Pat is one of my roommates so it will be nice to visit with his family as we always really appreciate a home-cooked meal.

Mrs. Sullivan has also sent over several meals over the least two years, including lasagna and apple pie - both of which were outstanding. We were informed today that the Sullivan's have purchased 100lbs of turkey, which I have know will highlight an exceptional meal.

Not only is Thanksgiving exciting because of the food but it also marks a break in school as we have Wednesday through Friday off. I personally guarantee that every player appreciates this break as this gives us a few days to relax before entering the final two-week grind of the semester. This time off will also give us a chance to spend more time focusing on the task at hand for the weekend which is four points and we hope to see you in the stands on Saturday and Sunday.

Until next week, keep it simple,
Ben Parker and Braeden Rigney
