Friends of Golden Griffin Athletics,
The culture of intercollegiate athletics is changing at Canisius College and the signs of our progress are clear. Five Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships, three NCAA Tournament appearances and two other championship runner-up finishes over the past two years are proof of this. During that time, the Golden Griffins have claimed 16 Conference Player and Rookie of the Year awards, compared with 13 in the previous six years. This competitive improvement has been realized while maintaining our commitment to academic excellence. Our student-athletes maintain a 3.13 overall grade point average with 12 of our 16 teams posting a team average above 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. A different culture for sure, one that expects excellence and competes for conference championships.
Winning programs are built with solid
teamwork and that includes the “team behind the team.” Alumni, friends, donors, corporate
sponsors, faculty/staff, the student body and volunteers who share our vision -
to be a championship program in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference - are
vital to our success. Together, we form a powerful team, a team that allows
Canisius College Athletics to continue to grow into a program that is realizing
these championship goals and serves as a source of pride for anyone associated
with Canisius College.
As Canisius College continues to grow and improve, the signs of progress on
campus are everywhere. Fans and
alumni who visit our campus regularly or once every other year all remark about
the significant change they have seen in our athletic program and across the
campus. Much of this progress has
been made possible through the support that you provide to our Blue & Gold
Club. As we look to the future, that
support will be more important than ever!
The culture in our athletic program is changing and with your continued
help, we will realize our championship goals.
This is a great time to be a Golden Griffin – and we are proud to have you on our team.
Go Griffs!
