Robert "Slip" Turner '84 - A solid backcourt performer from 1980-1984 with the Canisius men's basketball team, Robert "Slip" Turner earned the reputation of being an outstanding long range shooter as well as a top notch defensive player. As a sophomore, the St. Louis, Missouri native was part of the team with a 19-8 record. As a senior and captain, Turner averaged 15.1 points per game as the Griffs turned out a 19-11 record. Turner was selected to the North Atlantic Conference first team. He finished his career among the all-time leaders with 1,415 points. His 13-14 effort from the field on March 5, 1984 versus Vermont ranked as the single best shooting performance in Canisius history at the time of his induction. Turner concluded his career by being drafted in the 10th round by the Houston Rockets of the NBA.
