A two-time Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference champion and winner of the 1990 National All-Catholic cross country meet at Notre Dame, Heather Whalen Appenheimer is the most decorated women's cross country and track runner in Canisius College history. A four-year letter winner in cross-country and three-year winner in track, Appenheimer set a course and meet record in claiming the 1990 All-Catholic meet. She won 10 meets during her cross country career. On the track, she won the MAAC 3,000 meter title and holds the school indoor records in the 3000 and 5000 meters. She also owns outdoor marks in the 3000, 5000 and 10,000 meters and was named to the MAAC All-Academic team in 1991.
