This week has been a reality check for everybody. Our time away from classrooms, homework, tests and studying ended this past Monday. The break made me forget how busy a day can actually be with classes, workout and practice and now all that I can think about is how nice it was to only worry about playing hockey over the last couple weeks. Several guys mentioned how the Christmas holidays made them feel as though they were back playing junior hockey when all they really did was focus on hockey, 24/7. Those days have now ended and now we're "back to the grindstone."

Some of us were more excited to head back to class then others, Doug Jessey, in particular. I'll give an example as to just how excited he was. On Monday morning at 9 a.m., Doug Jessey, Doug Beck and I have Finance 201 together. Beck and I walked to class together at roughly 8:50, earlier than everybody else in the class. Or so we thought. As we walked in the pitch dark class and turned on the lights, we found Doug Jessey sitting alone in the front row, next to the teacher's desk with his notebook, his calculator and pen in hand. Talk about loving school. I guess his ridiculously high GPA speaks for itself though.

For many of us, the break was spent taking an afternoon nap once we got home from practice followed by movie watching for much of the evening. Several guys are pretty intense video game players and played Call of Duty for hours on end. For me, I couldn't be happier that the NHL is back, however, it would have been nice if it was on the television over the break. There are only so many movies out there.

This weekend, we head to Bentley where we want to keep our winning ways going after a sweep of Sacred Heart last weekend. It's hard to believe that our regular season is now half over, knowing that the playoffs are not that far away. We need all the points we can get as we keep pushing our way to the top of the standings. Our remaining schedule is in no way easy as we play almost all of our major rivals, Mercyhurst, Air Force, RIT and Niagara.

Anyways, for those of you reading this, keep coming out to Buffalo State and supporting us as our games get more and more important. I actually have some homework I have to get back to so, until next week, keep it simple,
