The Canisius Colege team opened the spring protion of the 2012-13 season Sunday in the first round of the Whiting-Turning Towson Invitational at Prospect Bay Country Club in Grasonville, Md. The Golden Griffins played in the afternoon group and battled wind and rain all day. The team is in 22nd overall after the first 18 holes.
Canisius freshmen Andrew Romano and Brendan Polsin each shot a nine-over par score of 81 in the first round to lead the Blue and Gold. Jeremy Wells from William & Mary leads the field after he posted a 68 in the first round on Sunday.
The second round of the Whiting-Turning Towson Invitational will tee off at 10 a.m., Monday morning.
