The Canisius College women’s lacrosse incoming freshman class keeps receiving honors for outstanding play. Freshmen Allie Stewart (Lancaster, NY / Lancaster) and Megan Maloney (Victor, NY / Victor) have both been recognized for their outstanding play on the field.
Stewart, who has already two All-America selections, four All-Western New York First-Team selections, five Section VI championships, has been named the Tom Borrelli Memorial Award winner as the top senior female lacrosse player in Western New York. During her senior season at Lancaster, Stewart had 55 goals and a team-high 34 assists.
Maloney, who was recently named to the First-Team All-Greater Rochester team by the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle, was named the Daily Messenger’s Girls Lacrosse Player of the Year. The four-year starter helped lead Victor to its best season in program history, as the team made it to the state championship game.
Both players will join head coach Scott Teeter’s squad, which has won four straight Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championships.
