The Canisius College Varsity Eight collected its third Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) weekly honor this season after placing fourth in their respective heat at the Knecht Cup on April 13 in Camden, N.J. along the Cooper River. The Golden Griffins' Varsity Eight remains undefeated against MAAC opponents this season through three spring races.
Recording a time of 6:59.70, the Griffs posted the top time among the four MAAC schools competing in the Varsity Eight race at the Knecht Cup. In the fourth heat of the Varsity Eight race, conference-affiliate Robert Morris finished sixth with a time of 7:36.85. The sixth heat featured a pair of MAAC opponents going head-to-head, as Fairfield placed fifth (7:07.34) followed by Marist in sixth (7:13.36).
Among the six total heats of the Varsity Eight race, the Golden Griffins battled in the most competitive heat with only half a second distinguishing second place from fourth place.
The Griffs' Varsity Eight included junior Lynna Paradiso, senior Stephanie SanFilipo, junior Nancy Kennish, junior Liz McKinney, senior Bridget Laszewski, freshman Nora Kennon, senior Monica Klenk, sophomore Liz Reinwald, and freshman coxswain Hannah Blum.
The Blue and Gold will host Robert Morris and D'Youville at the Black Rock Cup at the Frank Lloyd Wright's Fontana Boathouse on April 20. The official spectator's guide for the Black Rock Cup can be found here.
