  • The Canisius College golf team returns to the course Sept. 28, when the Golden Griffins take part in the annual Little Three Championship at Pine Acres Country Club in Bradford, Pa.
  • The Griffs are three-time defending Little Three Champions, having won the team title in 2010, 2011 and 2012.
  • This current three-year championship reign is the longest for the Blue and Gold in the tournament's history, which has been played a total of 59 previous times since 1952.
  • Last season, Canisius golfer Michael Carrig won the individual championship with his 36-hole score of 140, highlighted by his first-round score of 67.
  • That 67 by Carrig in the first round set the course record at Harvest Hill Golf Course in Orchard Park, N.Y.
  • Canisius sophomore Hunter Sagar finished sixth in the field last fall, the best finish among Canisius' four returners from the 2012-13 roster.
  • The marks the 60th playing of the Little Three Championship, which features Canisius, Niagara and St. Bonaventure.
  • This year's event will be held at Pine Acres Country Club in Bradford, Pa. This is the second time Pine Acres has hosted this event since 2006.
  • Canisius' team championship in 2010 was the program's first since 1991. St. Bonaventure has won the Little Three Championship event as a team 37 times.
  • The winner of the Little Three individual championship earns an automatic berth into the 2014 Porter Cup, which is played in Niagara Falls, N.Y. This marks the fourth year where the individual medalist qualifies for the Porter Cup.

  • Canisius traveled east on the New York State Thruway to take part in the Cornell Invitational, which was played at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course in Ithaca, N.Y.
  • The Griffs ended the event in seventh place as a team. Freshman Cory Cullen, playing in just his second college event, was the team's top finisher as he tied for seventh in the field.
  • Cullen shot a 54-hole score of 223, highlighted by his final round score of 73, which is his career-low to this point. Sophomore Andrew Romano tied for 12th with his two-day score of 224. Romano now has seven top-20 finishes in 13 career events.

  • Canisius will close out the fall season when the team plays in the Binghamton Fall Invitational Oct. 6-7.
  • That event will be held at the Links at Hiawatha Landing in Apalachin, N.Y.
  • Canisius will be making its first appearance in the Binghamton Fall Invitational, which was first played in the fall of 2012.
