The Canisius College hockey team meets Battle of the Bridge rival Niagara for two games this week. The schools are set to meet in Lewiston on Thursday before playing in Buffalo on Saturday. Both games are set for 7:05 p.m.

• Canisius (10-14-2, 9-8-2 AHA) split a pair of road games at AIC last weekend, earning a 4-1 victory before falling 5-3.
• The Griffs sit in sixth place in the Atlantic Hockey standings, three points back of fourth and the final bye in the tournament.
• Senior Kyle Gibbons leads Canisius with 25 points, 12 goals and seven power-play tallies this season.
• Senior Tony Capobianco owns a 3.19 goals against average and .904 save percentage in 17 starts this season with a 6-8-2 record.

• This week’s games are not only worth four points in the AHA standings but also two points in the Battle of the Bridge series.
• The Battle of the Bridge series is an all-sports competition between the two rival schools.
• The Griffs currently lead the 2013-14 series, 8-7. Each hockey game this season is worth one point in the standings.
• Canisius has won the competition 6-of-8 years, including the last three.

• The Griffs have played their best against the league’s best but have also left points on the table against the teams at the bottom.
• Canisius has earned more points this season from the league’s top three teams than any other three-team grouping in the standings.
• In fact, the Griffs are the only team to win the season series with Mercyhurst and Connecticut. The first-place Lakers are 1-2-0 against Canisius this season and 12-0-4 against the other 10 teams.
• Canisius, however, has not played its best when expected to with just a 3-3-0 mark versus the schools ranked 10th to 12th. The Griffs are the only team with three losses to the league’s bottom three schools.

• Former Canisius great Derrick Bishop is set to become the ninth Griff associated with the hockey team to be inducted into the Canisius Hall of Fame this weekend.
• Bishop earned ECAC West All-Star honors as a senior in 1995.
• He appeared in 103 career games, ranking ninth in school history with 144 points and fourth with 98 assists.

• In a rivalry that began in 1997, Niagara holds a 19-10-2 advantage in the all-time series, including a 15-9-2 edge in Division I meetings.
• Since the Purple Eagles joined Atlantic Hockey prior to the 2010-11 season, Niagara holds a 7-4-1 edge in the series.
• The teams met in Lewiston in October with Niagara rallying from a 4-1 deficit to earn a 6-4 win.
• The rivals have also met in the postseason twice in the last three years with Canisius claiming both contests, including a semifinal victory en route to its first title last year.

• Niagara enters the week in seventh place in the Atlantic Hockey standings, just one point behind Canisius for sixth place.
• The Purple Eagles are 8-15-3 this season and 8-8-3 against league foes after a split versus Sacred Heart last weekend.
• Isaac Kohls leads the team with 22 points, 11 goals and 11 assists this season. Hugo Turcotte is second on the Purple Eagles with 19 points (8g, 11a).
• Jackson Teichroeb and Adrian Ignagni have split time in net. Teichroeb owns a 4-9-1 record with a 2.83 goals against average and .903 save percentage, while Ignagni is 4-6-2 with a 3.14 goals against average and .902 save percentage.
