Four members of the Canisius College swimming and diving team swept the MAAC’s weekly honors, the conference announced on Wednesday. Freshman Marissa Watroba, sophomores Spencer Bray and Audrey Mulhisen, and junior Eddie Quarantillo were honored for their strong performances in Saturday's meet with Colgate.
Bray was named the MAAC Male Swimmer of the Week for his three victories in the Griffs’ dominant 203-86 win over Colgate. Bray broke the school-record in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:42.91. He also took the top-spot in both the 500-yard freestyle and the 200-yard backstroke in the meet. This was the second time Bray has received the weekly honor this season.
Watroba earned MAAC Female Swimmer of the Week honors for her record-breaking performance in the 200-yard breaststroke in Saturday’s meet at Colgate. Watroba set the new school-mark in the event with a time of 2:28.43. Watroba then took first place later in the meet in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Quarantillo is also a repeat MAAC Male Diver of the Week winner for the Griffs. Quarantillo earned the honor this week for posting scores of over-300 on each board. It’s the third consecutive meet that Quarantillo has posted the high-score on both boards. He completed the 1-meter dive with a score of 312.86 and the 3-meter dive with a score of 306.86.
Mulhisen earned MAAC Female Diver of the Week for first-place finishes on both boards in Saturday’s meet. It’s the first time she has taken the top-spot on either board this season. Mulhisen completed the 1-meter dive with a score of 231.59 and 3-meter dive with a score of 243.30.
The Griffs return to action on Tuesday, Dec. 3, when they head to Cleveland State for the team’s final road meet of the season.
