The Canisius College men's and women's swimming and diving teams return to action on Sunday afternoon when they host the Binghamton Bearcats at the Koessler Athletic Center Pool.

After over a month off from competition, the Golden Griffin men return to the water against the Bearcats. The Griffs are ready to compete following their last dual against Big Four rival St. Bonaventure on Oct. 26 at home, a 145-90 loss.

In the Griffs' dual against the Bonnies, the underclassmen duo of sophomore Sam Hansen and freshman Spencer Bray provided the team with solid efforts. In his first-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke, Hansen set the KAC Pool record in a time of 2:11.06. The sophomore would also place second in the 200-yard IM (2:01.63) behind a pool record-setting finish by SBU's Matt Rochna (2:00.92). Bray secured a pair of second-place finishes in both the 200-yard freestyle (1:46.19) and the 200-yard backstroke (1:58.22).

The Golden Griffin women have less of a wait since their last dual, as the Griffs traveled to conference opponent Siena on Nov. 17. On the road, the Griffs fell to the host Saints, 134-109.

At Siena, sophomore Marissa Oakey captured the Griffs' first top-place finish of the afternoon in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:28.78. Oakey also placed first in the 500-yard freestyle, securing a time of 5:09.76. Also capturing first-place finishes was freshman Clare Battaglia. The freshman locked into first-place performances in both the 200-yard IM (2:12.46) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:10.60).

The Golden Griffin men will face the Bearcats for the first time since the 2006-07 season, as the Griffs dropped a 183-84 decision on the road to Binghamton. For head coach Scott Vanderzell, the dual will be the first against the Bearcat men.

For the Golden Griffin women, the dual will mark their first competition against the Bearcats since the 2009-10 season. On the road, the Golden Griffins fell to Binghamton, 133-94.
