The Canisius softball team dropped a pair of games on Saturday at the Holiday Inn Hilltopper Spring Fling in Bowling Green, Ky. The Golden Griffins lost the first game to Belmont 2-0 before falling to Bradley 17-0 in five innings. Canisius is now 2-6 on the year.
In the first game, Jen Consaul took the loss in the circle as Belmont scored two runs on two hits, with single runs crossing the plate in the sixth and seventh innings. Sophomore Bethany DeMarco went 1-for-3 with a double in the loss, while Michelle DelPrince, Robin Kennery and Alexis Roman also had base hits for the Blue and Gold.
In the nightcap, Bradley jumped on the Griffs early, scoring 10 runs in the first en route to the 17-0 win. Canisius tallied six hits in the loss, but grounded into two double plays.
The Griffs will close out their weekend stay in Bowling Green, Ky. on Sunday when the team plays host Western Kentucky. Game time is set for 10 a.m.
