Mike McCarthy '94 - Rewrote the Canisius College record book and still holds 21 school marks. From 1985-88, the Griffs posted a 20-8-2 mark with McCarthy in the starting lineup. The South Buffalo native completed 48.8 percent of his passes in his career for 4,982 yards and 44 touchdowns. He was the 1985 ECAC Rookie of the Year when he was twice named the league's Rookie of the Week. McCarthy tossed for at least 200 yards in seven games including a 359 yard effort in 1987 against Cortland State. He was an Associated Press and Football Gazette honorable Mention All-American in 1988 and is the only Griffin quarterback ever to surpass the 1,000 yard mark in three different seasons. Mike is currently a law enforcement officer with the city of Buffalo.
