Position:

Robert T. Kelly '56 - A co-captain of what is known as one of the finest basketball teams in Canisius College history-the 1956 team that bowed out in the NCAA regional finals in Philadelphia- Kelly was selected for the All Star team for his NCAA tournament performance. Playing guard and forward for the offense, Kelly contributed many key baskets to the 1955 and 1956 NCAA teams, but his greatest contribution was his tenacious defense. Known as "Kelly the Cop" for his aggressiveness in guarding the leading scorer of the opposition, Kelly usually held his opponents way below their scoring average. He was so well respected by his classmates that he was voted the "Ideal Man" by his senior class in 1956. After graduation, Kelly took his leadership skills into the service where he starred as the captain of the 3rd Army District Championship basketball team.
