Kevin Brenner is in his third season with the Golden Griffin men's soccer program, serving as an assistant coach with the team.
"I have known Kevin for a number of years and I'm excited about having him be a part of our staff," said Canisius head coach Dermot McGrane. "Kevin is a tireless recruiter and is passionate about the game of soccer. He brings a wealth of experience with him and will a valuable asset to our program as we turn Canisius into a championship-winning team."
Brenner joined Canisius after spending six seasons as an assistant coach with Buffalo State, helping lead the program to its highest winning percentage in 23 years. With the Bengals, Brenner assisted with the day-to-day operations of the program and training sessions, while serving as the team's recruiting coordinator from 2007 to 2010.
A two-year captain at Buffalo State, Brenner led the Bengals to a regional ranking of fourth during his senior campaign and an 11-5-2 record, the team's best mark in 20 seasons. He finished the campaign ranked third on the team in points and led the Bengals in game-winning tallies.
After finishing his playing career at Buffalo State, Brenner was the scouting director and a reserve player for the Queen City Football Club of the NPSL from 2006 to 2008, while also serving as the head coach of Amherst soccer from 2005 to 2008. He won two BWNYJSL titles at Amherst and also guided the team to the quarterfinals of the 2008 New York State Cup.
Brenner also serves as the head coach with Empire Buffalo, which is a member of the US Soccer Developmental Academy and participates in the US Soccer Region 1 League. In addition, he served as the scouting director and was a reserve player of the Queen City Football Club of the NPSL from 2006 to 2008.
A member of the NSCAA, Brenner holds a USSF National D license, while completing his NSCAA Advanced Regional Diploma and his NSCAA National Diploma.
A native of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Brenner captained the Hornets during his high school career and is a two-time All-Champlain Valley First Team selection. He earned his bachelor's degree in business management with a minor in business economics from Buffalo State in 2004 and is currently pursuing his master's in applied economics and finance.
