After completing one of the more successful careers for the Canisius College hockey team, senior forward Vincent Scarsella has signed a contract to join the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL.

Scarsella ranked second on the team during the 2010-11 campaign with 35 points, 14 goals, 21 assists and seven power-play tallies. The Lackawanna, N.Y. native set career highs in both goals and power-play scores in his final season with the Golden Griffins.

During his four-year standout career, Scarsella appeared in a school-record 144 games. An All-Atlantic Hockey selection as a junior, Scarsella ranks second in the program's Division I history in both career points (133) and career assists (93) to go along with 40 career goals.

Elmira is the minor league affiliate with the Anaheim Ducks and Ottawa Senators of the NHL plus the Syracuse Crunch and Binghamton Senators of the AHL. Scarsella and the Jackals are back in action tonight, hosting Trenton.
