After helping lead the Canisius College hockey team to its second-straight appearance in the Atlantic Hockey Championship game, freshman Shane Conacher collected the league’s Rookie of the Month accolades.

In seven postseason games to finish the 2013-14 season, Conacher recorded eight points, three goals, five assists and a plus/minus rating of +8.

After recording his first career game-winning goal in his first collegiate postseason game against Sacred Heart, Conacher was instrumental in helping the Griffs upset second-seeded Bentley in the quarterfinals. He recorded a career-best three points on a goal and two assists in a game two win as Canisius rallied from a 4-1 third-period deficit for a 5-4 victory before posting the assist on the game-winning goal in a decisive game three. Conacher then added two assists in the semifinal victory against top-seeded Mercyhurst before scoring a goal in the championship versus Robert Morris.

Conacher finished his freshman campaign with 23 points, six goals and 17 assists in 32 contests. He ranked third in Atlantic Hockey and 20th nationally among rookies with 0.72 points per game.
