Western Kentucky scored two unearned runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to post a 2-1 victory over Canisius Sunday morning on the final day of the Holiday Inn Hilltopper Spring Fling in Bowling Green, Ky. Canisius is now 2-7 on the year.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the bottom of the seventh, Western Kentucky started off the frame with the leadoff single back up the middle. After Western Kentucky moved the runner with a sacrifice bunt to have a runner at second base and one out, Canisius was charged with a fielding error, which allowed pinch runner Tiffany Gooch to score from second and knot the game at 1-1. Later in the inning with two outs and a runner at second, the Canisius infield was again charged with an error, this time allowing Olivia Watkins to score the game winning run for the Lady Hilltoppers. The win improved Western Kentucky to 8-4-1 on the year.

Canisius took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third on an RBI-double by Alexis Roman that drove Michelle DelPrince across the plate for the Blue and Gold. Senior Jen Consaul took the tough-luck loss in the circle for the Griffs, as she allowed two runs, both unearned on five hits in 6.2 innings of work. Western Kentucky pitcher Emily Rosseau earned the win for the Lady Hilltoppers, after she went the distance and allowed just one run on three hits while striking out nine.

Canisius will return to action March 7-9 at the Towson Invitational in Baltimore, Md.
