  • The Canisius College softball team continues its longest home stretch of the season this weekend when the team plays host to Fairfield and Iona at the Demske Sports Complex.
  • The Golden Griffins are coming off a 10-2 loss to Buffalo on April 11, at home.
  • Canisius opened MAAC play last weekend by sweeping Siena. The Griffs have won 45 of their last 52 home MAAC regular season games, dating back to 2006.

  • Canisius senior Lauren Falzone was credited with two hits in the team's loss to Buffalo on Wednesday. She leads the team with 13 multi-hit games this season.
  • Fellow senior Lauryn Chris extended her career best hitting streak to six games with a single in the sixth inning against UB.
  • Senior Lizzy Gatto stole her team-leading 12th base of the season in the first inning on Wednesday, but was later gunned down when trying to swipe a bag in the third frame. That snapped her streak of 32-straight steals without being caught.
  • Senior Katie Lancellotti leads the team and is tied for the MAAC lead with her three triples this year.
  • Gatto and freshman Robin Kennery are tied for the lead on the team with 19 RBIs this season.
  • Sophomore Valorie Nappo ranks third with 10 runs batted in - she has four RBIs through the team's last seven contests, dating back to April 5.
  • As a team, Canisius ranks fourth in the MAAC with its .254 batting average and the team leads the conference with 99 base on balls. Lancellotti leads all players in the conference with 18 walks this year.
  • Sophomore Jen Consaul leads the Griffs with her 47 strikeouts and four wins in the circle, while freshman Corrine Schaus is 2-1 with a 2.20 ERA in 35 innings of work.

  • Canisius will once again host its annual "Cancer Awareness Games" on Saturday when the team plays host to Fairfield.
  • The Griffs will wear special pink jerseys, courtesy of Computer Media Technology, and each player's name plate on the back will have the name of a friend or loved-one who has battled, or lost the fight, with cancer. Canisius' coaches will also wear pink T-shirts as well.
  • At the game, the Canisius women's soccer team will help accept bids for Canisius' jerseys and coaches shirts, with the proceeds going to Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo.
  • For fans that cannot make the game, but would like to make a donation, can do so by sending a check in the mail, made out to Canisius College Softball. The mailing address is:

  • This will mark the 62nd and 63rd all-time meeting between Canisius and Fairfield, with the Griffs holding a 35-26 lead in the series.
  • Canisius has swept Fairfield in the Stags' last three trips (2006, 2008 and 2010) to Buffalo.
  • Last season, Fairfield took both games from the Blue and Gold when the teams played at Fairfield.

  • Canisius and Iona have played 34 times previously, with the Griffs holding a 34-10 lead in the all-time series.
