Sophomore Andrew Romano and freshman Cory Cullen each fired 74 and the Canisius golf team posted a first-round team score of 306 to be tied for fourth after day one of the Lafayette Spring Invitational at Silver Creek Country Club in Hellertown, Pa. The event is the first of the spring season for the Golden Griffins.
Cullen went out in 38 and then posted a 36 on the back nine for his 74 while Romano shot 36 on the front nine before carding a 38 in his final nine holes. Sophomore Hunter Sager and freshman David Berkun are tied for 44th in the field after each player shot 79.
Longwood leads the team competition with a team score of 300, while Hofstra's David Mecca leads the individual event after he shot an even-par 72.
The final 18 holes at the Lafayette Spring Invitational will be played on Monday, with tee times starting at 9:30 a.m.
