The Canisius golf team posted a two-round score of 623, led by sophomore Andrew Romano's team-low 153, as the Golden Griffins played in the 2014 St. Francis Red Flash Spring Invite at Sunnehanna Country Club in Johnstown, Pa. The tournament was shortened to 36 holes after Tuesday's final round was cancelled due to weather.
Romano shot a team-low 75 in the first round and then followed it with a 78 in the second round. He tied for 19th in the field. Freshman David Berkun posted back-to-back rounds of 78 for a total of 156 which tied him for 24th and freshman Cory Cullen posted a 27th place finish after he carded a two-round score of 157.
Robert Morris won the team event with a two-round score of 579, and Robert Morris golfer Ryan Prokay earned medalist honors after he shot a 67 and then posted a 74 in the second round for a 36-hole total of 141.
Canisius will return to the course April 21-22 at the Oak Hill Intercollegiate, which will be hosted at Oak Hill Country Club in Pittsford, N.Y., by the University of Notre Dame.
