Golf Tied for 13th at UConn Event

The Canisius College golf team posted a team score of 311 in the first round adn 308 in the second round to share 13th place after day one of The Connecticut Cup at Ellington Ridge Country Club in Ellington, Conn. Junior Mike Spiotta posted a two-round tally of 151 (76-74) to earn a tie for 30th in the field.

Michael Carrig sits in a tie for 35th place in the third-annual event after posting scores of 76-76 for a two-round total of 152. The Golden Griffins are tied with Fairfield in 13th place after the Stags shot 314 as a team in the first round before shooting a combined 305 in the afternoon.


Sacred Heart leads the field after two rounds with a team score of 580. Rhode Island sits in second, just four strokes back. UConn (591), Houston Baptist (594) and Iona (595) round out the top-five teams in the tournament.


The third and final round will tee off at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
