Golf Takes Seventh at Homewood Suites Invitational

Juniors Michael Carrig and Mike Spiotta tied for 25th overall and the Canisius College golf team posted a two-round total of 636 to place seventh at the Homewood Suites/Siena Invitational at the Dye Course at PGA Village in Port St. Lucie, Fla.

Carrig shot a 78 on Saturday to record a two-day tally of 158, which tied teammate Spiotta, who shot a team-best 77 on Saturday after carding an 81 on Friday. Senior Stephen Seeler ended the event tied for 30th.


William Woods won the event with a 36-hole team score of 697. J.D. Nash from William Woods won the overall individual crown with a two-day score of 146. He birdied the second hole in a three-man playoff to win the event.


The golf team will be back to action March 30-April 1 when the team takes part in the Fireline Towson Invitational at Prospect Bay Country Club in Grasonville, Md.
