Canisius junior Joe Vogl is tied for eighth after posting a first-round 75 and the Golden Griffins are tied for ninth in the field after the first round of the Rutherford Intercollegiate at the Blue Course on the camus of Penn State University. The first round started late because of frost, and the second round was halted on Saturday night because of darkness.

Senior Stephen Seeler is tied for 35th in the field along with junior teammate Michael Carrig, after each player carded a first-round 78. George Mason golfer Kevin Yerks leads the field after 18 holes after he posted a score of even-par 71.

Canisius recorded a team score of 311, which ties the Blue and Gold with Army for ninth overall. George Mason leads after the first round with a team score of 301, followed by IUP and Bowling Green, which posted scores of 302 and 303, respecitvely. William & Mary, UConn and the host Nitnany Lions of Penn State are tied for fourth with scores of 304.

The second round will be completed at 10 a.m., on Sunday, followed by the third round.
