Golf Team Tied for Seventh at Detroit

Canisius junior Mike Spiotta sits in 10th place and the Golden Griffins are tied for seventh as a team after two rounds of the Detroit Titan Invitational, which began Friday at Prestwick Village Golf Club in Highland, Mich.

Spiotta opened the tournament with a one-over par 73 and follwed that effort with a score of 71 in the second round for a two-round tally of 144. Three Canisius golfers are tied for 29th in the field. Junior Michael Carrig and senior Stephen Seeler shot 73 in the second round, while junior Joe Vogl is also tied for 29th after posting a two-round score of 152, highlighted by his three-over score of 75 in round one.


As a team, Canisius shot a 294 in the second round to post a team score of 600 for the day, which ties the squad with Oakland. Loyola (Ill.) leads the team event with a team-score of 577, and Loyola golfer Alex Cusumano leads the event after the first two rounds with his score of 139, which is four-under par.


The third and final round is set to begin Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m.
