Canisius sophomore Robin Kennery went 3-for-3 with a two-run home run and three RBIs and junior pitcher Jen Consaul tossed a complete-game with seven strikeouts as the Golden Griffins defeated George Mason 9-2 on the final day of the George Mason Cherry Blossom Classic in Fairfax, Va. Canisius is now 11-6 on the year while the Patriots slipped to 6-15 with the loss.

Kennery and freshman Alexis Roman each drove in three runs in the win for the Blue and Gold, while sophomore Michelle DelPrince extended her hitting streak to seven games with two hits, including a double. Consaul moved to 7-3 on the year after she scattered eight hits and fanned seven in seven innings of work. She now leads the Canisius pitching staff with eight complete-games on the year.

George Mason scored first in the top half of the first inning, and the Griffs answered with a run in the bottom of the first frame on a sacrifice-fly by Kennery to allowed teammate Meghan Cuda to score from third. Canisius broke the game open with a pair of runs in the second, highlighted by Roman's double down the left field line that plated Bethany DeMarco and Valorie Nappo. In the third, Canisius scored three times to take a 6-1 lead. The key hit in that frame was a two-run homer by Kennery, her first career homer, that drove in DelPrince from second.

Canisius racked up 11 hits as a team, while Cuda and freshman Tori Nappo also posted RBIs in the victory. George Mason sophomore Brooke Blankenship went 3-for-4 in the losing effort for the Patriots.

The Griffs will get back to action Saturday, March 23, when the team plays a non-league doubleheader at Ohio University. Game one is set to begin at 1 p.m., in Athens, Ohio.
