Golf Wraps Up Play at Oak Hill

Canisius sophomore Hunter Sagar shot a final round 75 and freshman David Berkun carded a 79 on the final day of the Oak Hill Intercollegiate Tuesday at Oak Hill Country Club in Pittsford, N.Y. The Golden Griffins finished seventh in the field with a team-total of 963.

Sagar finished tied for 32nd in the field with his 54-hole score of 237. Fellow sophomore Andrew Romano tied for 38th with his 243, while freshman Cory Cullen posted an 80 on Tuesday for a three-round score of 244, which ranked 40th in the tournament.

Co-host Notre Dame won the event with a team score of 866, which was four strokes better than Nebraska. Boston College took third with a team score of 898, while Georgetown (900) and Rochester (927) rounded out the top-five.

Notre Dame's Niall Platt won the individual championship with his three-round score of 209, highlighted by his four-under par score of 66 in the second round.

Canisius will return to the course Friday, April 25, when the team competes in the first round of the 2014 MAAC Golf Championships in Lake Beuna Vista, Fla. The 54-hole event will be played at The Palms Course at the Disney Resort complex.
