Cullen Receives MAAC Honors; Golf Places Seventh

Canisius freshman Cory Cullen was named the 2014 MAAC Golf Rookie of the Year on Sunday on the final day of the MAAC Golf Championship, which was held at the Disney Palm Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Cullen posted a three-round score of 243 to end up 26th in the field.

As a team, Canisius finished seven in the conference tournament with a three-day score of 958. Freshman David Berkun led the Blue and Gold on Sunday, as he carded a five-over par score of 77 to finish in 20th place overall with his tournament score of 328. Sophomore Hunter Sagar ended the event tied for 24th with his 54-hole score of 242.

Saint Peter's claimed the 2014 MAAC Men's Golf championship and the league's automatic berth into the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship with a team tally of 931, which was three strokes better than Monmouth and Fairfield. Manhattan placed fourth at 935, while Iona round out the top-five with a team score of 950.

Fairfield's Alex Taylor shot a 75 on Sunday and ended up winning the 2014 McLeod Trophy as the individual champion of the event.
