Volleyball falls to Siena in MAAC action

Jennifer Corkum, Lauren Weber and Diana Wierzba combined for 40 of Siena's 56 offensive kills in a three-game sweep of Canisius in Loudonville, N.Y. Saturday afternoon. The Saints won 30-22, 30-26 and 30-20.


Senior setter Sarah Watkins dictated the Saints' offense with 42 well-timed assists. Sophomore Kerry Pease killed six of her 11 attempts in the win. Corkum connected on 30% of her total attempts and Weber made good on 21.6% for an efficient Siena offense. The Saints also took advantage of eight service aces and nine Canisius service errors for 17 points.

The Golden Griffins were led by middle hitter Jennifer Debee (Boca Raton, Fla.), who was credited with 12 kills on 26 atack attempts. Freshman Kim Hoffman (West Babylon, N.Y.) notched 17 defensive digs while sophomore Nicole Lucie (Lancaster, N.Y.) was credited with seven kills and seven digs.

Canisius is now 2-11 overall, 0-2 in the MAAC The Blue and Gold returns to action Sunday against MAAC rival Marist.
