Host Binghamton University had three players in double-digits for kills and swept a three-game match from visiting Canisius College Friday evening in the East Gym. The Bearcats scored a 30-20, 30-24, 30-24 victory for the team’s fourth straight win. The loss drops the Griffs to 2-10 overall, 0-1 in the MAAC. Binghamton is now 5-1 at home this season, and 7-10 overall.

Freshman outside hitter Michele Heck (Chicago, Ill.) put down a match-high 21 kills with just seven errors, which was good enough to score her a .400 hitting percentage. Freshman Jennifer Smith (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) added 12 kills, 10 digs and two blocks. Sophomore hitter Morgan Jimerson (Grandview, N.Y.) chipped in with 10 kills. Senior setter Sara DeClemente (Painted Post, N.Y.) handed out 43 assists, 10 digs and three aces in the win.

Canisius was led by junior Jennifer Debee (Boca Raton, Fla.), freshman Christina Wildes (Long Beach, N.Y.) and senior Miranda Thomas (Rose Hill, Kan.) each of whom had five kills. Junior setter Kelly Sieber (Depew, N.Y.) contributed 21 assists and 10 digs in the losing effort for the Blue and Gold.

Canisius will look to their first MAAC win on Saturday when night the team travels to Siena. The Griffs dropped their first MAAC match to Niagara 3-0 last Saturday and have dropped their last two outings.
