Freshman Kim Hoffman (Babylon, N.Y.) was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for the week ending Oct. 14. Hoffman is the first Golden Griffin to be recognized for her play by the MAAC this season.
Hoffman finished the week with 25 kills, 23 digs and four service aces. The freshman outside hitter had a game and career-high 16 kills and 10 digs in a 3-0 loss to Niagara Oct. 13, while adding a career-high four service aces in the Griffs' 3-0 win over St. Francis (Pa.) Oct. 10. She is currently ranked second on the team with 107 kills. She is one of three players to have played in all 37 games this season. She is also rated third on the team with 15 service aces.
Canisius is 2-9 overall, 0-1 MAAC. The Blue and Gold will be back on the court Oct. 19-21, when the team travels to Binghamton, Siena and Marist.
