Prior to her arrival in Buffalo, Hummel was an assistant coach at Dowling College, a Division II school in Oakdale, NY.

"I am excited about the opportunity to move the Canisius volleyball program to the next level," said Hummel. "I look forward to the journey ahead of us."

A Long Island native, Hummel was the 1987 Colonial Athletic Conference MVP at James Madison and is a member of their Wall of Fame. After transferring to Hofstra ('91), she continued to excel taking MVP honors at the ECAC Championships in 1988 and 1990. Hummel has also been an Empire State Games participant in volleyball since 1984.

Hummel and the Griffs open their season at the University at Buffalo Tournament August 31 at UB's Alumni Arena.
