Volleyball Announces the Signing of Two Recruits

Canisius College Director of Athletics Timothy J. Dillon and head volleyball coach Cathy Hummel announced today that Kerry McNamee (Wantagh, N.Y.) and Leigh Launhardt (Rochester, N.Y.) have signed their National Letters of Intent and will continue their educational and athletic careers at Canisius next fall.

McNamee helped lead Wantagh High School to a state championship last fall as the team's starting setter. McNamee has also been recognized for her work in the classroom as well. She currently holds a 3.4 grade point average at Wantagh.

"Kerry is going to bring a great deal of past success and experience to our young program," Hummel said.

Launhardt is currently a senior at Greece-Arcadia High School in Rochester where she is competing in her senior season. She currently holds a 3.48 grade point average and while playing middle hitter for Greece-Arcadia.

"Leigh will be a presence both offensively and defensively in the middle for us," Hummel said.

McNamee and Launhardt competed against each other last summer in the gold medal game at the Empire State Games.
