Marshall junior Tracey King was credited with a game-high 13 kills to help lead the visiting Thundering Herd to a 3-0 (22-30, 22-30, 23-30) win over Canisius College in a non-conference match Friday night in the Koessler Athletic Center. The loss was Canisius’ fifth straight as the Golden Griffins fall to 2-12 in 2002. Marshall is off to its best start since 1980 and improves its record to 9-4 overall.
Canisius sophomore Christina Wildes led the Griffs with 11 kills. Junior setter Jackie Reed was credited with a team-high 15 assists and she also collected a team best 10 digs.
Marshall’s Heidi Kuethe had 11 kills while teammate Katie Stein was credited with a game-high 39 assists. Senior Jodi Fick led all players with 13 digs.
The Griffs will be back in action Saturday, Sept. 28, when the Griffs play host to non-conference foe Binghamton at 5 p.m., in the Koessler Athletic Center.
