Canisius Volleyball Tops St. Francis 3-1

Leigh Launhardt led four Griffs with double-figure kills as the freshman posted 15 to lead the Canisius volleyball team to a 3-1 (30-28, 30-26, 27-30, 30-25) victory over St. Francis (Pa.) Saturday evening at the Koessler Athletic Center.


Jackie Reed posted 52 assists and 10 digs, while Kim Hoffman tallied 10 kills and nine digs. Christina Wildes and Nicole Boucher also had 10 kills each for the Griffs.


Emily Turza had 18 kills and 13 digs to lead the Red Flash, while Nichole Hyer posted 12 kills and 13 digs. Rebecca Hartman tallied 13 kills, and Kelly Snee finished with 49 assists.

Canisius improves to 4-13 with the victory, while St. Francis drops to 9-10 with the loss. The Griffs return to action as they open MAAC conference play at Loyola Saturday, Oct. 12, in a 1 p.m. match.
