Sophomore Christina Wildes tallied 17 kills, and freshman Leigh Launhardt added 13 kills to lead Canisius College to a 3-0 (30-25, 30-24, 30-20) victory over Siena in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference volleyball action Saturday night in the Koessler Athletic Center. It was the Griffs’ third win in the last four matches.
Sophomore Kim Hoffman recorded 11 kills and nine digs, and junior Jackie Reed was credited with 43 assists and nine digs. Senior Kelly Sieber led the Griffs with 11 digs, and senior Jennifer DeBee had nine kills.
Lauren Weber led the Saints with 16 kills and added 11 digs, while Kerrie McHugh posted 34 assists. Diana Wierzba had 13 digs.
Canisius played good team defense, posting seven total blocks and 42 digs. The Griffs held the Saints to a .175 hitting percentage in the second game and .030 in the third. Canisius hit .296 for the match, including .389 in the final game.
The Blue and Gold improves to 7-15 overall and 3-1 in the MAAC, while Siena drops to 6-16 overall and 1-5 in the conference.
The Griffs return to action Sunday afternoon in the Koessler Athletic Center in a 2 p.m. conference showdown against Marist.
