Volleyball Advances to 5th-place Game With Win Over Rider

Four Canisius College players scored double digit kills, led by sophomore Christina Wildes' game-high 17, as the Golden Griffins defeated Rider 3-1 in the 2002 Jet Blue MAAC Championship in Orlando, Fla.

Kim Hoffman had 16 kills, while senior Jennifer DeBee added a season-high 14 kills in the winning effort. Freshman Leigh Launhardt added 10 kills for the Blue and Gold.

Junior setter Jackie Reed posted a game-high 41 assists while senior Kelly Sieber led the Griffs with 22 digs.

The Griffs jumped out to a 2-0 lead early after hitting .625 in game one. The Griffs fired off a .515 team hitting percentage in game four in route to the win.

Canisius advances to the fifth place game on Tuesday, Nov. 19. The team will play Iona at 10 a.m. in the Disney Sports Resort Fieldhouse. The Blue and Gold suffered a 3-2 setback to fourth-seeded Loyola in its opening game of the tournament.
